Teachers’ test construction competencies in examination-oriented educational system: Exploring teachers’ multiple-choice test construction competence

This study explored the relationship between multiple choice test construction competence and quality of multiple-choice tests among senior high school teachers in Ghana. In all, 157 were selected from four schools Kwahu-South District. Participants responded to self-designed questionnaire developed assess teachers’ items competencies. A three-factor structure emanated exploratory factor analysis on competence—content validity, item “options” handling, assembling. Teachers this perceived more ensuring content followed by assembling, handling (that is, alternatives) items. The also found serious problems with copies have constructed for students. Findings provide unique compelling evidence regarding their tests. Implications policy practice are discussed.
